Better to be hated, than loved for what you're not

Haste makes Waste

Yeah.. I like Gifs..

Anyway, I'm starting on a paper for a publication in the Comparative Literature department of my University - though it sounds like some prestigious thingamajig, it's more like getting to write a paper together with a cool GTF friend of mine.

My topic for the piece is going to be 'The Representation of Trash in Media Directed Towards Children,' which is just a highfalutin way to say I'm going to be writing about Oscar the Grouch, and children's books that deal with trash in more than an abstract way.

My favorite author for picture books has always been Bill Peet, (whom you can look up here, [link] ) did a book about a planet inhabited by peaceful creatures who only like to eat the green grass and drink the cool water. Their world is upset when aliens from a different planet come and take it as their own, creating automobiles and factories that pollute these creature's world and they watch, powerless to stop it. It sounds depressing, and it is (until the end at least) but it was one of my all time favorites.

As you have seen dear reader I did a piece related to some yet unnamed friends, garbage man and the trash monster. That's because for some reason, I was very inspired to draw something related to my intended topic and so they're some sort of off-shoot of that. But I still really want to draw more with them, so you'll probably get well aquatinted before I'm through.

My question for you today is, do you have any favorite children's books, TV shows or movies that deal with trash or garbage in anyway? You could probably guess this, but I'm very interested.
